Hear and Obey the Voice of the Spirit

Bishop Clarence Williams • General
God is going to do things such as have never been seen before in the earth. It is therefore critical that every believer hears the voice of the Spirit; which comes from relationship.

It is time for the church to have an ear to hear what the Spirit of God is saying.  If we are going to be successful (in all aspects of life), we must learn to be led by the Spirit.  He is the One who leads and guides us into all truth.  It is He who has the power to bring gifts and miracles into the church; it all flows from Him.  We must become very sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit and the voice of the Spirit, because our deliverance and breakthrough may not always come through the preaching and teaching.  It will oftentimes come from the voice of the Holy Spirit.  But we must be sensitive to His voice, so we can flow accordingly. In most of Jesus' messages He said, "He that has an ear to hear, let him hear what the Spirit is saying°" (see Matt 11:15, 13:9; Mark 4:23, 7:16, 4:9; Rev 2:7 and so on) Before He ascended into Heaven He said He would send us another Comforter who would not speak of Himself, but what the Father gives Him to speak.  (John 16:7 and 13) He was speaking of the Holy Spirit.

Church as usual has brought us nothing, but when the Holy Spirit shows up, wonders and miracles begin to take place.  We must desire more of Him, and less of us in our churches.  He will never lead us outside of the will of God.  We are in one of the finest hours of the church, and it is our right to see miracles on a normal basis, but we must get the Holy Spirit back into our churches.  We must want and desire His presence and power.  God will never be any place He is not welcome.  The same goes for the Holy Spirit; we must desire Him, pursue Him, and create an atmosphere conducive for Him to inhabit.  No more church as usual.  It is time for the power of the Holy Spirit to be restored in the church.

God is going to do things such as have never been seen before in the earth.  It is therefore critical that every believer hears the voice of the Spirit; which comes from relationship.  The more time you spend with someone you become more familiar with their voice.  The Holy Spirit is the One who leads and guides the church, therefore, it is vitally important to make sure we have relationship, so we can not only hear His voice, but obey it.  God is not interested in fellowship, but relationship, as it was from the beginning.  He tells us that we are the sons of God (Romans 8:14); that comes from relationship.  If you don't visit or call home to talk to your mother for 10 years, there is no relationship.  Even if you were to go and visit; you may have fellowship with her, yet there is a disconnect because there is no relationship.  Oftentimes we get born again and filled with the Spirit but forget about building that relationship that draws us even closer to God.  When we have relationship with the Father, we can "°come boldly before His throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need."  (Hebrews 4:16)

There has got to be a hunger for the things of God.  The people of God must begin to hunger more, have a greater passion for His presence, and love His Word.  The answer to every situation we face has already been dealt with.  We have already been given access.  Jesus Himself said, "If you can believe, all things are possible°"  (Mark 9:23) There is a strong shifting in the atmosphere.  God is moving in ways we never imagined before; it's already happening.  Thus, says the Word of the Lord unto Zerubbabel in Zechariah 4:16, "°not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit says the Lord of hosts."  This shift and move of God will not be by the ability or power of men.  He uses people, but He works through His Spirit.

He that has an ear to hear, let him hear what the Spirit is saying to the church.  God is still speaking to His church, yet there are a lot of voices trying to block the voice of God.  But when you know His voice, despite what you see, things will happen and begin to shift in your favor.  When you know His voice, it doesn't matter what things look like, because His Word will not return unto Him void. (Isaiah 55:11) You see, my friend, we are in the best of times; but you can be in the worst of times if you allow what you see to overwhelm what the Spirit is speaking to you.  The Holy Spirit does not speak like the world because there is no relationship.  In fact, the world is ruled by the enemy himself.  That is why there is so much gloom and doom, and negativity.  But the most important person in the earth today is the Holy Spirit.  Don't grieve, quench, or restrain Him.  He is our helper.  He knows all the laws of the Kingdom of God and can tell you what's legally yours – a constant reminder of our legal birthright as a child of God.

The Holy Spirit is always moving, but we get so comfortable where we are that it becomes hard for us to move with Him.  So, we stay where we are and try to conjure up something when He is saying, "Come, move with Me."  We get stuck and don't want to change because it makes us uncomfortable, but when you move with the Holy Spirit you will always be uncomfortable because He takes you out of your comfort zone.  But be one of those who says, "Whatever it takes for me to be in His presence, I'm moving, even if it's into unfamiliar territory."  If we move with Him, we stay in the presence of God; and in the presence of God we will have everything we need.  Sometimes God is simply testing us in preparation for a spiritual promotion.  Every one of us is being prepared for bigger and greater things.  So, embrace the Holy Spirit, move when God says move, and see what happens.  Make a determination today to build relationship so you can hear the voice of the Spirit and be led thereby.  Have an ear to hear what the Spirit is saying in this time and season and watch the hand of God shift in your favor.
