Speak the Word in Faith

Bishop Clarence Williams • General
The most powerful thing in the universe is the Word of Almighty God. When you speak His Word, you release the power to create things. Once you understand that words have power in them, you won't just use them loosely. Words can create, and are very effective.

"…Have faith in God.  For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be removed and be cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them." (Mark 11:22-24)

How many times have you heard that scripture quoted? How many times have you yourself spoken it?  How often do we believe what we speak?  Why don't we value words like we used to, in the past?  In today's society, people's word doesn't mean anything anymore, when a person's word used to be their bond.  Many people don't value the words they speak, but words are powerful, and what we say does affect other people, including ourselves; our character.

The most powerful thing in the universe is the Word of Almighty God.  When you speak His Word, you release the power to create things.  Once you understand that words have power in them, you won't just use them loosely.  Words can create, and are very effective.  They paint pictures on our imagination because they are designed to create. Things respond to spoken words.  In fact, whatever is dead in your life can be spoken back to life.  In John 6:63 Jesus said, "…the words that I speak to you are spirit and they are life."  The Bible says that we are snared by the words of our mouths (Proverbs 6:2). That's because of the power behind what we say.  We must speak only the right things and things we want to see manifest in our lives.  Jesus is our example.  He didn't wrestle with demons, or the weather, or things going on around Him.  When He spoke a word, He knew that it would come to pass.  In fact, the centurion soldier spoken of in Matthew 8:8 understood the power of words.  He said to Jesus "… only speak a word and my servant will be healed."

"…What you say flows from what is in your heart." (Luke 6:45) It's important to study the Word of God and get it in your heart so that the words you speak out of your mouth will line up with His Word and give birth to the right things.  God instructs us through His holy Word to guard our hearts above all else, for it determines the course of our lives (Proverbs 4:23).  Especially when you are angry; don't just say anything.  When you do, you are birthing forth death and creating with the power of your words.  James 3:10 reads, "And so blessing and cursing come pouring out of the same mouth.  Surely, my brothers and sisters, this is not right!"  Praising God one day, and speaking defeat the next.  It's time out for just hearing and quoting scriptures.  We must speak the Word in faith and truly believe what it says.  The interesting thing is that even believers don't believe.  We want the presence of God, the power of God, and a move of God, when what we really need is the Word of God.  Once we get the Word of God in our hearts and truly believe what it says, the presence and power of God will show up.

Parents, you are the force who speaks power and life into your children.  That's your responsibility.  Stop sitting and allowing things to weigh on your heart when you have the Word of Almighty God in your mouth to change that situation.  It's time for you to confidently speak the Word in faith, and live by faith.  No matter how stormy things look at this moment, you have the power to speak to those storms.  God didn't take you through all you've gone through for nothing.  You have an anointing for such a time as this.  Like David in the 17th Chapter of 1st Samuel, he had an anointing from God to defeat the giant Goliath.  For 40 days Goliath had been talking noise against his God. When David heard him, something rose up in him.  He immediately went on the attack.  Although the people ridiculed him, he didn't have time to worry about who was with him or not.  He instead used the authority he had to change the situation.  David spoke to the giant with boldness and faith and said, "… this day the Lord will deliver you into my hands…" (1 Samuel 17:46) David knew the power he possessed as a child of God and the power of his words to create the outcome he spoke.

Dear friend, if you don't think your words have power, you are very wrong.  You can't talk negative about your marriage and think it won't be affected.  Even if divorce papers are already drawn up, you can speak life to it and see it restored.  So quit speaking what the devil wants you to speak and creating the outcome he wants you to create.  Who told you that you don't have value or worth?  Who told you that you can't succeed?  Who told you that there is no hope for your marriage or your children?  Stop worrying about what people say and think.  You have the power to reverse and override curses spoken over your life.  If you don't say something to the giants in your life, they will run over you.  Talk to your situation.  That's how you get your healing.  That's how you save your marriage.  That's how you get your joy back.  It wasn't the rock that killed the giant, it was David's faith in the power of his words to create.  He acted on what he spoke and believed, and God backed him up.

Speak the Word of God in faith.  Value it over everything else going on, and birth forth life.  Remember, God can do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us. (Ephesians 3:20)
