To Everything There is a Season

Bishop Clarence Williams • General
I encourage you today to trust God; He knows your season. When you step into your season, you must step into it by faith.

"To everything there is a season; a time for every purpose under heaven."  Ecclesiastes 3:1

The Word of God says there's a season, time and purpose for everything under heaven.  It's critical that you understand that, and the different seasons in your life, because God moves in seasons.  Seasons are times of change; periods in life where you experience things.  When you come to the end of something, it does not mean the end, but the start of something new – a season change.  Oftentimes when people face tragedy's in life – a divorce for instance – they think it's all over for them, not realizing that some things come to an end in order to start something new.

I encourage you today to trust God; He knows your season.  When you step into your season, you must step into it by faith.  Sometimes people begin to look at their age and think it's too late, but your age has nothing to do with your season, who you are, or where God is taking you.  You can miss your season of experiencing the supernatural and some of the greatest moves of God by focusing on your age, or situations and circumstances you are now facing.

God has a specific time and season for all of us, which is why it's important to hear what the Spirit says.  When God says move, it's time to move.  You may go through several seasons before you get to your season.  Moses went through a season of being in the house of Pharaoh, and another season of being a shepherd before he stepped into his God-season for what he was called to do.  And when Moses' season had come to an end, God took him.  It's not man, but God who changes the times and seasons (Daniel 2:21). You can however, cause your own seasons to change by walking in disobedience or fear, or listening to others. But don't allow fear, tradition or people to stop you. Understand and respect the seasons; be obedient to walk in your new season even if people don't walk with you anymore.  Even if it was a tough last season and you are still trying to get over it, stay focused on the new season and where God is taking you.

The end of a thing does not have to mean the ending but can be the beginning of a new thing.  Don't miss the blessings for your family; allow God to teach you how to walk through your seasons.  Don't get discouraged at where your children are in this season; just hold on to what God says and continue to speak what they truly are, even if during this season they are not pleasing God.  Keep reminding them of their future and what they are going to be one day.  Even if they don't want to hear it, it's your responsibility to keep speaking it.  Don't give up or be discouraged.  Let them work through that season – they won't be there forever, no matter how old they are.

It is needful that we all go through seasons to get to our season, even seasons we don't want to go through.  "And you shall remember that the Lord your God led you all the way these forty years in the wilderness, to humble you and test you, to know what was in your heart…" (Deuteronomy 8:2) Jesus Himself went through a season of great suffering but understanding His season and that it was not just about Him, He pressed on.  Keep believing, keep pressing on, and say as David said in Psalms 31:15a, "My times are in Your hand."
