Encourage Yourself and Recover All

Bishop Clarence Williams • General
Are you going through something right now? No matter how bad it seems, or how tough it may get, according to Scripture, the people who know their God will be strong and do exploits (Daniel 11:32).

1 Samuel 16:12-13 says "and the Lord said, arise, anoint him, for this is the one!  Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed David in the midst of his brothers; and the Spirit of the Lord came upon him from that day forward"

2020 is a new season for you and your family.  Regardless of what is going on around you, trust that nothing will be impossible for you if you make the choice to simply trust God.  Sometimes you can't help the anointing on your life -- it just stands out.  David was anointed from a young child, and as with him, not everyone will be fond of the call or anointing on your life.  King Saul despised David's anointing and sought to kill him because of it.  David was on the run for his life because of the king's jealousy of his anointing and call; running and hiding out in caves; but he finally reached a turning point where he refused to run anymore.  Either he was going to trust God, or he would run away from his call.  David loved Saul, and I'm sure it hurt him to be pursued daily by someone he loved, for nothing he had done.

Have you ever been in a place like that? Have you ever been in a place where you were so full of hurt, disappointment, and discouragement, that you turned away from that very thing God was calling you to do?  Have you ever been to a place where you cried so much that you had no more power to weep?  Well, I know that feeling well.  Perhaps you've had close friends who suddenly stopped talking to you, or turned their backs for reasons unknown to you, and you felt all alone.  Perhaps on the job it looks like no one wants to be around you, and you feel ostracized.  Well, David was at that place, but worse; he was greatly distressed and about to lose his life.  Yes, he had an anointing and promise from God, and the Spirit of the Lord was upon him, but things weren't looking good for him at that moment.  There were other times when the people who served with him wanted to stone him because of something that was out of his control.

I want to take this opportunity to encourage you and tell you that your life can take a tremendous turn for greatness if you will do as David did in his distress.  When the people wanted to stone David, he encouraged himself in the Lord.  (Read 1 Samuel 30:1-8) If you want to see a change this coming year, encourage yourself.  Don't wait on others to do it, you do it.  God has already given you His Word so you can speak life to your situations.  Begin now: "No weapon that forms against me will prosper; Greater is the One on the inside of me than he who is in the world; I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."  To encourage himself in his God, David had to first know his God.  He said, "The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?" Psalm 27:1

Are you going through something right now?  No matter how bad it seems, or how tough it may get, according to Scripture, the people who know their God will be strong and do exploits (Daniel 11:32).   Satan wants you to look at all your problems this past year and accept them as the way it is and count up your loses, because he comes to kill, steal, and destroy (John 10:10).  But let me ask you this, do you really want victory?  Then, trust in the Lord with all your heart and stop leaning to your own understanding. Acknowledge Him in all your ways and He will direct your paths. (Prov. 3:5-6)

Seek God for directions this year.  God will show you what to do; and keep in mind that it is not over until you win.  The scoreboard may show 2 seconds left on the clock, and your opponent may seem to have the upper hand; but like David, don't accept failure.  David sought the Lord, and asked Him a question, "Should I pursue?  Should I overtake?"  Then, after encouraging himself He sought God for direction.  Like David, there is an anointing on you to move forward.  God is telling you " PURSUE!  Stand up, wash your face, dust yourself off, declare who the Word of God says you are, encourage yourself, and go after your stuff!  If you step out in faith and trust Him to never leave you or forsake you, you will surely overtake and without fail, recover all!  IT'S A NEW YEAR" Go into it with confidence and assurance that God's got you.
