In Exodus 33:17-23, the Bible tells the story of a man (Moses) desiring the presence of God.  Moses said, "Lord, if I have found favor in Your sight, show me Your glory."  He was asking God for more of Him; more revelation.  There is so much more to God than we sometimes realize, but we must desire more of Him, and intentionally go after Him.  Never be satisfied with what He did on yesterday; pursue Him daily.  Anyone who pursues, hungers, and thirsts for God will find that He always has more.  He wants us to pursue Him so He can reveal more of Himself to us.  God didn't get upset with Moses for wanting more, and He desires to give us more.  In his pursuit, Moses saw God in ways he had never seen before, and so will we if we pursue His presence.  Sometimes amid trials you can be so overwhelmed and focused on what you are going through that you don't even think about God.  But it's time to return to your first love and do the things you used to do in pursuit of Him. "But I have this complaint against you.  You don't love Me or each other as you did at first!  Look how far you have fallen!  Turn back to Me and do the works you did at first…" (Revelations 2:4 NLT)

In the presence of God everything is sustained; there are no desires or needs for anything else.  In pursuing God and chasing after His glory, never become satisfied; always desire more of Him.  Moses was one of the greatest leaders of Israel, and if he desired more of God, how much more should we.  One of the problems in the church today is that there's a lack of love, pursuit and hunger for God.  So often, once people get all their needs met, they don't think they need God anymore.  They stop pursuing Him, studying His Word, praying to Him, or making time to seek His face.  They make excuses like, "God, You know my heart."  But God is always seeking for people who hunger and thirst for more of Him.  We must choose to chase after God – to want, desire, and pursue more of Him.

When you have plenty, and your bills are paid in full, and your marriage is restored, be careful not to forget God, the One Who brought you up and out. Whatever you do, and no matter how blessed and prosperous you become, never forget where God has brought you from.  In Deuteronomy 8:7-18 (NLT), Moses addressed the people by giving them this main key as they journey through life:  Don't forget the Lord your God.  "When you have eaten your fill, be sure to praise the Lord your God for the good land He has given you.  But this is the time to be careful!  Beware that in your plenty you do not forget the Lord your God and disobey His commands, regulations, and decrees that I am giving you today.  For when you have become full and prosperous and have built fine homes to live in, and when your flocks and herds have become very large and your silver and gold have multiplied along with everything else, be careful! (vs 10-13) …Remember the Lord your God.  He is the one who gives you power to be successful in order to fulfill the covenant He confirmed to your ancestors with an oath." (vs 18)

God brought me and my family a mighty long way and has blessed us tremendously.  I remember growing up in poverty; having no running water in the home; having to use an outhouse, and a pot-belly stove.  God then answered the prayers of my parents and blessed us with better – 2 acres of land and a home that had central heating and no leaks; and it didn't stop there.  God has continued to bless us through the years as we now have our own families.  Even my children's children are blessed.  Your situation may not have been like my situation, but if you take a moment and think back, I'm sure we all have similar stories of how God brought us through many challenging seasons.  It's good to sometimes think back and remember, especially when we all first gave our lives to the Lord.  We were so hungry for God, and the things of God – reading the Bible and watching Christian TV every day, and faithfully attending church every service.  We spent quality time in prayer, fasted often, and did our best to walk pleasing before Him in everything we did.  As we sought after God, I am sure we can all attest that our lives changed for the better as He brought us through difficult times.  But we must never forget those times, and never stop pursuing Him.

Whether you realize it or not, every one of us have been kept by God.  It's time to love Him and chase after Him like never before.  Our love for Him grows stronger as we spend more time getting to know Him.  Stop begging for things and start pursuing His presence.  "Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and He will give you everything you need." (Luke 12:31 NLT) Stop getting caught up in what's not happening for you and get caught up in pursuing Him.  Love God more than anything!
