Cultivate A Strong Prayer Life

Bishop Clarence Williams • General
Prayer is a powerful weapon! Fight with the weapons of warfare God has already given to you.

As people of God, we must cultivate a strong and consistent prayer life.  This requires you to be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might, according to Ephesians 6:10.  God is calling us as people of God to build strong and stand strong.  This means we must pray without ceasing; “And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. Be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.” (Ephesians 6:18 NIV)

As people of God, we must learn, particularly in times of crisis, to keep praying. Praying to the God of Heaven and earth is what will strengthen you to face life’s fast curveballs and get base hits that kept you moving forward, and eventually bring you to home plate.  The people you influence need to see your faith and trust in God through having a prayer life.

Jesus never stopped praying. He prayed before He chose His disciples, He prayed at Lazarus’ tomb, He prayed in the garden of agony knowing the suffering He would soon face, He prayed on the Cross at Calvary, He prayed before He died, and He prayed after His resurrection.  Even now, He sits at the right hand of the Father making intercession (praying) for us.

The Bible says to fight the good fight of faith.  It is vitally important that you stand firm in your faith through prayer and the power of God’s Word in the days ahead. Fight the good fight, finish your course, keep the faith.  He has already given you all the armor you need, all the artillery you need, all the arsenal you need.  The power and authority we have through prayer as children of God makes us a powerful defense in battle.  Together we can overtake and destroy our enemy.  There is power in numbers, there is power in unity, and there is power in prayer.

Prayer is a powerful weapon!  Fight with the weapons of warfare God has already given to you.  Your armor is mighty through God for pulling down any strongholds you come up against in battle.  Don’t be afraid to fight.  Fight as one within your family, church, and community, UNITED IN PRAYER!  Fighting together makes us a fighting machine.  The war is here, now!  Arm yourselves and fight!  In prayer is where we hold the line; in prayer is where our enemy falls; in prayer is where we conquer.  Give your enemy nothing but take from him everything!

God has given you everything you will need to not only fight your battles but destroy your enemies that they never rise again.  Destroy evil spirits once and for all, on your knees in prayer.  “The Lord will cause your enemies who rise against you to be defeated before your face; they may come out against you one way but will flee before you seven ways.”  (Deuteronomy 28:7) Don’t settle for just a breakthrough; you must annihilate evil spirits sent to shut you down.  Stop just settling – OVERTAKE AND DEVOUR!  You must be able to have hope in your seemingly hopeless situations. When others come to you for hope and encouragement, pray with them and share with them the power of prayer, being a living example of what prayer can do in hopeless situations.

Do you realize that you and I will war until the day we leave this earth?  So, we may as well fight!  Stop watching from the sidelines and be in the fight. Don’t just stand by and watch people fall when you have the authority to change things through your prayers.  There is always hope when you keep praying, and you are never fighting alone.  “They will fight against you, but they shall not prevail against you.  For I am with you, says the Lord.”  (Jeremiah 1:19)    Some may fall on the battlefield but don’t stop praying, and never retreat.  Move forward in the power, authority, and dominion God has given you.
