Good Day ; Bad Day

Bishop Clarence Williams • General
Trust me, there is light at the end of the tunnel; you just need to keep moving toward it.

Not every day is full of joy, happiness and peace.  There are days in our lives when the bottom seems to fall right out from under us° leaving us motionless in thinking logically, and oftentimes causing a feeling of oppression or maybe depression.  Yes, these kinds of days do happen, and sometimes they are not just far and few, but a constant dripping that seems to make life miserable.  You may ask, "How do people handle such challenging days? Will I ever smile or laugh again, will I ever get over this, will there ever be peace in my life?"  I promise you, you are not alone.  Many others have these same thoughts and feelings from time to time.  I have even asked such questions myself.  But I want to share with you today how I learned the valuable lesson of never allowing bad situations and bad days to define who I am.

Proverbs 3:5-6 says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths."  You don't have to go through days of darkness by yourself.  God knew we would have days like these, so He instructs us to trust Him through them.  He tells us to have faith in Him, and He will direct our lives.  Psalms 23:1-2 tells us that the Lord will be our Shepherd so that we will not have any wants; we will lie down in fruitful places and experience peaceful, refreshing, and restored souls.

The sum of what God is saying is I love you too much to abandon you in your darkest days; those times when you need Me the most.  Take a moment and talk to Him. Share your heart with Him and be honest about how you feel.  He's always listening and always ready to change your circumstances.  He is waiting on you to stand up and declare who you are in Him; to proclaim His promises so He can alter your situations.  If you would do that, then what started out as a bad day could end up as one of the best days ever!

I believe the worst day in mankind's history was the day Jesus died for us; the day He sacrificed His very life for the entire world; the day He was beaten without mercy; the day He was wounded for our transgressions; the day He was bruised for our iniquities.  But even then, it turned out to be the greatest day of our lives; the day redemption and forgiveness was made available to us all.  What a price He paid for you and me.  Your bad day doesn't seem so bad anymore does it?  So, with an attitude adjustment, your most challenging days can turn out to be some of the greatest days of your life; days where you look back and say, "I didn't know how I would ever get through that, but God was faithful to His Covenant as I stood strong and professed His promises."  Good day?  Bad day?  It's still a day the Lord has made, so rejoice and be glad in it!  Trust me, there is light at the end of the tunnel; you just need to keep moving toward it.
